SPEC to Temporarily Close Lobby Due to COVID-19

All News

Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our members and employees, we have made the decision to close the lobby of our office to the public, effective Wednesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. At this time, we plan to reopen the lobby on May 1 if conditions allow.

This decision was not made out of panic, but precaution. Doing our part to keep our employees healthy and slow the spread of COVID-19 helps us to continue providing reliable electric service to our members at this critical time. However, please rest assured that we also have contingency plans in place to utilize contract linemen in the event a number of our employees or their family members contract COVID-19.

While our lobby is closed, we ask that you do business with the cooperative online or by phone. We are still available to serve you.

Outages can be reported by phone, through SmartHub and via text. We are responding to outages and emergencies in our service area and we will continue to do so.

As always, payments can be made online, by phone, through the mail or at the drop box at our office. You can access your account online through SmartHub, where you can view your electricity use history, update your contact information and change your communication preferences. You can also continue to call us for assistance regarding your SPEC account.

On our website, we have a wealth of information including online membership applications, meter loop diagrams, tax exempt forms, scholarship applications and more.

For the health and well-being of our members and employees, we ask members to postpone requests for new construction service until the pandemic has passed. We will still provide service transfers and new connects to existing meters, which can be done remotely from our office.

We expect this situation will continue to evolve over the coming days and weeks, and we will regularly evaluate any measures necessary to protect our employees and members, while continuing to serve you.
