San Patricio Electric Cooperative Board Member, Aaron Salge, passed away on September 30. Salge lived in southern Goliad County, near Blanconia, and served as the SPEC Director for District #1.

Salge was well respected by our board members, employees and members. He served four, three-year terms on our Board of Directors, and was re-elected for a fifth term on September 25.

In his 12 years as a board member, Salge was invested in the cooperative business model, and continued to expand on the education and training needed to serve our members. He completed the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Credentialed Cooperative Director training program in 2013, and earned the NRECA Board Leadership Certificate in 2016. He went on to earn the NRECA Director Gold Credential in 2018.

In addition to his service as a director at our cooperative, Salge worked 27 years at the Bee County Cooperative Association, serving as General Manager for the last 11 years.

Services for Salge were held on October 9th at Grace Funeral Home in Goliad.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the loving family and friends he leaves behind, especially his wife of 20 years, Leigh Ann Salge, and two his children, Jensen Salge and Evan Salge.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been set up to provide Salge’s children with the support they need to pursue higher education. Donations toward that fund can be made at Goliad National Bank, PO Box 1337, Goliad, TX 77963, Account #54017868. For banking purposes, checks should be made out to Leigh Ann Salge. Thoughts and memories of Salge can be shared online at www.gracefuneralhome.net.
