Capital Credits... What are they?

One of the benefits of being a member-owner of an electric cooperative is sharing in the financial prosperity and receiving capital credits. Capital credits represent each member's share of the cooperative's margins earned in proportion to the member's energy purchases during the year.

San Patricio Electric Cooperative, Inc. uses these capital credits for a period of time to ensure continued viability of the cooperative. Capital credits are drawn upon to offset expenses for new construction, storm repair, system upgrades, and other services to provide better service and lower rates.

The excess margins remaining after expenses are returned to members according to a rotation plan. To ensure receipt of future statements and future correspondence, please advise San Patricio Electric if your address changes.
